Office Manager

Pam Nelson Melanie Salter
As a vital asset to our hospital, Melanie, our office manager/technician, has worked at our office since it began in 1995. Melanie is a graduate of Perry High and began a career as a vet tech in 1981, working with Dr. Westmoreland even back then.
She and her husband Lee are raising two boys, Matthew and Mark. They are active members at Grace Church in Perry and enjoy the mountains, cruising, and being at home with their pets. They have 3 dogs: Josie, Lacey and Dash and 4 cats: Luke, Zach, Boo, and Gracie.


Veterinary Assistants

Teri Collins
Teri is a dedicated veterinary technician at Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital. Her love and compassion for what she does is obvious when you see her at work. She grew up in Cochran and graduated from Bleckley County High. She is the wife of James and the mother of four; Ashley, Christopher, Katelyn, and Brittany. They have four cats and a dog named Dixie. Teri enjoys tennis and she and her family love to go fishing at Lake Sinclair. They also attend Second Baptist in Warner Robins.

Heather Smith
Heather has been at Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital since August of 2010. She is a native of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She and her husband, David, have 4 dogs: Bubba, Taco, Chico and Nacho, 3 cats: Boo-boo, Gracie, and Pumpkin, and a 4 foot long iguana named Frank. Heather’s hobbies include fishing and spending time with her family.

Chelsea Depew
Chelsea was born in Texas and has since traveled as a military child until she settled in Georgia six years ago. She graduated from Houston County High School and Middle Georgia College with an Associate of Science in Biology in 2009, and just recently was awarded her Bachelor of Arts in Biology. Chelsea has worked at Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital every summer since 2008. We are proud to announce that she will be starting her first year of veterinary school at the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine in the fall of 2011. Chelsea has one Miniature Schnauzer.

Emily Hamil
Emily has been a kennel assistant at Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital since February 2011. She is a senior at Houston County High School, where she sings in the Contemporary Choir. Emily is also a member of the FCCLA at Houston County High. In her spare time, Emily enjoys hunting and fishing. Emily has a Yorki-zoo named Luly.


Receptionists

Jena Hathcock
Jena has been with Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital since 2006 and is also currently enrolled at Ft. Valley State University where she is pursuing a degree as a veterinary technician. She and her husband of two years, Heath, have a zoo of their own consisting of two dogs, two cats, and a parrot. Jena loves spending time with family and friends and also sings in the Mossy Creek Band.

Bridget Ezell-Bradley
Bridget joined the Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital family in May of 2011. She is a native of Fort Valley and just recently retired from the United States Army. Bridget has two children, Rhudi and Sean, and a Malamute named Molly. In her spare time Bridget enjoys reading, traveling, meeting new people, playing basketball, football and baseball. As an added bonus, Bridget’s younger brother, Brent “Thunder” Petway, plays for the Harlem Globetrotters.

Beth Jones
Beth started working at Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital in May of 2011. She is a native of Warner Robins and a graduate of Northside High School. She and her husband, Stuart, have three sons. Their oldest son is in the Air Force and is currently stationed in Colorado Springs. Their two youngest sons attend Hawkinsville High School. Beth has a miniature Schnauzer, a cat and three Quarter Horses. Beth is a member and Secretary of The Silver Spur Riding Club in Dublin. In her spare time, Beth enjoys club trail riding, camping with friends, reading historical romance novels, exploring new places and learning the history and culture of the areas where she travels.

Shirley Brumfield
Shirley has been a part of our front office staff since September 2009. She and her husband, Mike, have three children and seven grandchildren. They also have a Labrador Retriever named Tabbi, a Chihuahua named Chloe and a 12 year old fish named Oscar.

 


Rosie Westmoreland
Rosie Westmoreland is a 10 year old yellow Labrador Retriever that Dr. Westmoreland acquired in 2001. She is one of the offspring in a lineage traced back to a dog Dr. Westmoreland had in college. Rosie is a vital part of our office life. She is not only good at public relations, but she is also one of our blood donors. She has given the gift of life to many of our critical patients over the years. It is not uncommon to receive a visit from Rosie while waiting in one of our waiting rooms, especially, if there is a treat in your pocket. In her spare time, Rosie enjoys sunning herself by a window, getting her beauty rest, and visiting with our clients.
