Dr. Scott Westmoreland
Dr. Scott Westmoreland is a Perry native and attended Perry High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Georgia and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. Dr. Westmoreland opened Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital in October 1995.
Dr. Westmoreland is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association and the South Georgia Veterinary Medical Association. He often participates in career days for area schools by educating students about the veterinary profession and speaks to pet owners and breeders at kennel clubs. He also assists with local 4-H clubs.
Dr. Westmoreland is dedicated to his profession, assisting with HARPS (Homeless Animal Rescue and Placement Service) and is on the Board of Directors of The Friends of The Perry Animal Shelter.
Dr. Westmoreland and his wife, Angela, have two children, Bryce and Emmy. They have a Yellow Lab, Rosie. In his spare time, Dr. Westmoreland enjoys many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, golf and snow skiing and also enjoys traveling. He is an active member of The First Baptist Church in Perry and also assists with FFA (Future Farmers of America) and 4-H.
Dr. Stuart Slappey
Dr. Stuart Slappey earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Georgia, where he also earned his Master of Science degree and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Slappey is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, South Georgia Veterinary Medical Association and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Slappey participates in a spay and neuter program for HARPS (Homeless Animal Rescue and Placement Service). He also treats animals used to allow FFA (Future Farmers of America) students from Perry High School and Houston County High School to participate in agricultural shows such as the Georgia National Fair. Dr. Slappey also participated in Christian Veterinary Mission, a nonprofit organization which supports veterinary missionaries to foreign countries.
A native of Warner Robins, Dr. Slappey and his wife, Jenny, have two wonderful children, Sydney and Will. A Weimaraner named Lexi rounds out their family. Dr. Slappey is a member of the Second Baptist Church of Warner Robins, Georgia. In his spare time, he enjoys all outdoor activities especially hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. He’s also a big sports fan and enjoys golf, basketball, volleyball and softball. But above all, Dr. Slappey enjoys spending time with his family.
