Dr. Scott Westmoreland, DVM, Veterinarian
Dr. Scott Westmoreland is a Perry native and attended Perry High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Georgia and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. Dr. Westmoreland opened Westmoreland & Slappey Animal Hospital in October 1995.
Dr. Westmoreland is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association and the South Georgia Veterinary Medical Association. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Friends of Perry Animal Shelter, on the Advisory Board of CB&T Bank of Middle Georgia and Houston Hospital’s Board of Trustees.
Dr. Westmoreland and his wife, Angela, have two young adult children, Bryce and Emmy. The rest of their family is made up of Ru, a black lab mix rescue, two Bischons, Lilly and Dolly, and a cat named Six. Dr. Westmorland enjoys the outdoors. He is an avid bow-hunter and enjoys all types of fishing, especially saltwater. He and his wife, Angela, also enjoy traveling. Dr.Westmoreland is an active member of Perry United Methodist Church in Perry.
Dr. Stuart Slappey, DVM, M.Sc, Veterinarian
Dr. Stuart Slappey earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Georgia, where he also earned his Master of Science degree and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Slappey has been a mixed animal veterinarian in Middle Georgia since May of 2004.
Dr. Slappey is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, South Georgia Veterinary Medical Association and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Slappey treats animals used to allow FFA (Future Farmers of America) students from Perry High School and Houston County High School to participate in agricultural shows such as the Georgia National Fair. Dr. Slappey also participated in Christian Veterinary Mission, a nonprofit organization which supports veterinary missionaries to foreign countries.
A native of Warner Robins, Dr. Slappey and his wife, Jenny, have three wonderful children, Sydney, Will, and Susanna. A Chihuahua named Zacheaus, a Boykin Spaniel named Maple and 3 cats, Julian, Captain America and Peanut round out their family. Dr. Slappey is a member of Southside Baptist Church in Kathleen, Georgia. In his spare time, he enjoys all outdoor activities especially hunting, fishing, traveling, and farming. He’s also a big sports fan and enjoys golf, basketball, volleyball and softball. But above all, Dr. Slappey enjoys spending time with his family.
Dr. John Hutchens, DVM, Veterinarian
Dr. John Hutchens is a Perry native and graduated from Perry High School in 2000. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Georgia and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Hutchens worked at Westmoreland Animal Hospital as a veterinary assistant. Dr. Hutchens moved back to the Perry area in June 2009 and joined Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital as a practicing mixed animal veterinarian.
Dr. Hutchens enjoys working within the community, supporting local FFA and 4-H students, speaking at career fairs, and encouraging young people to pursue the profession of veterinary medicine. Dr. Hutchens is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Hutchens and his gorgeous wife, Lauren, have been married since 2006. They enjoy spending time together and raising their three handsome sons, John Michael, Christian, and Logan. Dr. Hutchens and his family attend Perry Presbyterian Church where he is actively involved in the music ministry. In his spare time, Dr. Hutchens enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, running, lifting weights, and competing in local 5K races.
Dr. Laurel LeGoullon, DVM, Veterinarian
Dr. Laurel LeGoullon is a California native who earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia. Prior to receiving her Veterinary degree, she served in the United States Air Force for 24 ½ years, initially working as an Aircraft Mechanic, then transitioning to a Bioenvironmental Engineer. She was stationed around the world, relocating 8 times throughout her career. After her final tour as the Air Force Reserve Command Bioenvironmental Engineer at Robins Air Force Base, Dr. LeGoullon was honorably retired from active duty in January 2010.
Following retirement, Dr. LeGoullon was not prepared to “retire”, and instead pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. She began her pursuit by working at Westmoreland & Slappey Animal Hospital, where she gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. While in veterinary school, Dr. LeGoullon had an opportunity to serve on a mission trip to the Navajo and Apache Nations to provide much needed veterinary care, was an active member of the Animal Welfare Club, actively participated in continuing education training, and volunteered at numerous veterinary organizational meetings. After graduation, Dr. LeGoullon joined the team at Westmoreland & Slappey Animal Hospital and began working as a full-time veterinarian. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. LeGoullon and her husband, John, have four grown children and three beautiful grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, both stateside and abroad, as well as spending time with friends and family and relaxing at home with her pets. She’s a member of Harvest Church in Warner Robins, GA. She has three dogs, Emma, Henry, and Cooper, as well as two cats, Monkey and Wazowski.
Dr. Caitlyn Bondurant, DVM, Veterinarian
We are excited to announce the newest member of the Westmoreland & Slappey Animal Hospital family, Dr. Caitlyn Bondurant. Dr. Bondurant is a native of Pembroke Pines, Florida. She studied Animal Science/Animal Biology at the University of Florida. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University in 2015.
Dr. Bondurant and her husband, Robby, have 3 dogs, a Black Lab named JJ, a Yellow Lab named Hoss, and a Heeler named Sage. They also have a three-legged cat appropriately named Cat. Dr. B’s current hobbies include unpacking boxes and getting to know the Middle Georgia area.
Dr. Katelyn McLean, DVM, Veterinarian
Dr. Katelyn McLean is a Georgia native and graduate of the Westfield School in Perry. At the University of Georgia, Katelyn earned degrees in Animal Science and Biological Science while completing her pre-veterinary coursework. She worked as an assistant at Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital during summer breaks throughout her schooling.
Katelyn went on to attend the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2019.
Katelyn has a passion for helping clients give their pets the best quality of life for as long as possible. She also has a special interest in ultrasonography and dentistry. Dr. McLean is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. McLean is recently engaged and looking forward to introducing her fiancé to the Middle Georgia community. Her Australian shepherd, Hannah, keeps her active with hikes and walks in her spare time.
Melanie Salter, Office Manager
As a vital asset to our hospital, Melanie, our office manager/technician, has worked at our office since it began in 1995. Melanie is a graduate of Perry High and began a career as a vet tech in 1981, working with Dr. Westmoreland even back then.
She and her husband Lee are raising two boys, Matthew and Mark. They are active members at Grace Church in Perry and enjoy the mountains, cruising, and being at home with their pets. They have 3 dogs: Josie, Lacey and Dash and 4 cats: Luke, Zach, Boo, and Gracie.
Jessica Salmon, Receptionist
Jessica joined our practice in July 2016. She is a military brat who moved here from the Azores in 2000. Jessica loves her fur kids. She has 2 dogs, 2 horses, and 2 cats. In Jessica's spare time, she loves to ride horses, time on the beach, and rescuing animals.
Jennie Minor, Receptionist
Jennie joined the staff in October 2017. She is a graduate of Taylor County High School, where she grew up with her family. Jennie enjoys fishing, softball, baseball, Auburn football and spending time on the lake. In her free time Jennie loves to do photography and play with her two dogs, Dobby and Sadie.

Shay Aldridge, Receptionist
Shay joined our practice in 2019. She is from Demopolis, AL, but has lived in Georgia since 2010. Shay enjoys working in haunted houses and organizing for her husband Andrew. An interesting fact about Shay is that she once played in a 48 hour film.

Alex DelGiorno, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Alex joined the practice in August 2017. Alex was the first graduating class from Veterans High School and then received her B.S. Degree in Veterinary Technology from Fort Valley State University. She enjoys fishing, volleyball, and watching UGA football. She enjoys spending time with all her animals, especially her pet cow, Bella.
Brittany Wells, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Brittany joined the staff at Westmoreland and Slappey in August 2018. She is from Warner Robins where she graduated from Houston County in 2011 and then received her B.S. in Veterinary Technology from Fort Valley State University in 2018. Brittany enjoys hiking with her family and two dogs Lexie and Obi. Her and her son, Oliver, also have two cats, Willow and Jango.
Beth Jones, Veterinary Assistant
Beth started working at Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital in May of 2011. She is a native of Warner Robins and a graduate of Northside High School. She and her husband, Stuart, have three sons and two granddaughters. Their oldest son is in the Air Force and is currently stationed in Colorado Springs. Beth has a two dogs, Tundra and Raven, two cats, Mama and Azure, and three horses, Honey, Tequila, and Jookie. Beth is a member and Secretary of The Silver Spur Riding Club in Dublin. In her spare time, Beth enjoys club trail riding, camping with friends, reading historical romance novels, exploring new places and learning the history and culture of the areas where she travels.

Savannah Seereiter, Kennel Assistant
Savannah joined the staff of Westmoreland & Slappey Animal Hospital in September 2015. Savannah is from Kathleen where she loves drawing, skating, fishing with her parents and three cats. Savannah loves anything Atlanta Falcons or Taylor Swift. She is currently pursuing her degree in Biology.
Tyler Bradbury, Kennel Assistant
Tyler joined our office in August 2017. He is from Warner Robins where he is a proud Warner Robins Demon. Tyler likes to cook with his mom and dad, Lesia and Kevin, and beating his three brothers, Chase, Brett, and Brandon, at video games.
Donna Timmons, Assistant
Donna joined our office in September 2017. She was born in Western Maryland, grew up in south Florida and has lived in Oregon and California. Donna loves Archery and going to horse shows and visiting her three daughters and step-son. Donna enjoys meeting new people and staying busy with her two dachshunds, Peanut and Charmaine.
Sydney Slappey, Assistant
Sydney joined the staff at Westmoreland & Slappey in April 2019. Sydney enjoys All Star Cheerleading @Tumblecheer Heroes as well as drawing. She is the oldest daughter of Stuart and Jenny Slappey and loves to travel with them and her younger brother, Will, and sister, Susanna. Born in Athens, Ga., Sydney has lived in Perry most of her life where she attends Fullington High School and has a career goal of being a veterinarian. Sydney's days are enjoyed with her family and their three dogs, Maple, Zachy, Gwen Stacy, and two cats, Captain and Kara Zorel.
Teri Collins, IT Technician
Teri is a dedicated veterinary technician at Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital. She joined our office August of 2006. Her love and compassion for what she does is obvious when you see her at work. She grew up in Cochran and graduated from Bleckley County High. She is the wife of James and the mother of four; Ashley, Christopher, Katelyn, and Brittney. They have two dogs named Dixie and Marley. Teri enjoys tennis and she and her family love to go fishing at Lake Sinclair and camping.
Teri began working at our office as a Veterinary Assistant and has transitioned into being our IT technician. She will receive her BS in IT Technology in December 2019 and then will be continuing her education to receive her Master's degree.
